Just over 2 weeks after the Paris attacks, the largest gathering of global leaders in the Capitol city ended without any threat during the preliminary convention of the COP 21 conference. The French response to the attacks has been swift. As a current resident of France, I have noticed a slight change in Grenoble. Increased security and surveillance is at it's high as the government seeks to take control of the country's safety.

French President Hollande has stepped up military efforts against ISIS, becoming the new "figure head" of the war on terror. During visits to Washington and Moscow last week, Hollande aimed to forge an alliance between Presidents Obama (USA) and Putin (Russia). Slight progress has been made, although the recent downing of two Russian fighters in Turkey has increased tensions.

At home, French officials have increased surveillance and executed over 120 raids---one of which was in Grenoble. Having detained several suspects, the country's stance against the attack has been profound.

IMPACTS & RISKS

1. Tourism has decreased dramatically in the short-run. Just how long tourists will remain cautious of Paris is unknown.

2. Other complementary industries, just as luxury goods, can also expect a decline.

3. Increased government spending could serve as a boost to the lagging French economy.

4. An alliance of France, Germany, USA, UK, and Russia is more-or-less coordinating effort.

rts to combat ISIS.
